Knitted composites are textile composite materials that consist of knitted textile reinforcement and polymer matrix. Knitted composites exhibit great design flexibility by allowing the customization of shapes, textures, and material properties. These features facilitate the optimization of buildings’ material systems and the creation of buildings with light weight and high material efficiency.To achieve such a lightweight, material-efficient building structure with knitted composites, this research investigates the material properties of knitted composites and proposes a design process for building-scale knitted composite systems. In the material study, this research examines certain mechanical properties of the material and the effects of additional design elements. In the design exploration, this research explores the design workflow of the structural form, element arrangement, and knit distribution of the material system at the macro-, meso-, and microscales. BackgroundDigitalizing food using 3-Dimensional (3D) printing is an incipient sector that has a great potential of producing customized food with complex geometries, tailored texture and nutritional content. Yet, its application is still limited and the process utility is under the investigation of many researchers.Scope and approachThe main objective of this review was to analyze and compare published articles pertaining 3D food printing to ensure how to reach compatibility between the huge varieties of food ingredients and their corresponding best printing parameters. Different from previously published reviews in the same journal by Lipton et al. (2015) and Liu et al. (2017), this review focuses in depth on optimizing extrusion based food printing which supports the widest array of food and maintains numerous shapes and textures. The benefits and limitations of 3D food printing were critically reviewed from a different perspective while providing ample mechanisms to overcome those barriers.Key findings and conclusionsFour main obstacles hamper the printing process: ordinance and guidelines, food shelf life, ingredients restrictions and post processing. Unity and integrity between material properties and process parameters is the key for a best end product. For each group, specific criteria should be monitored: rheological, textural, physiochemical and sensorial properties of the material its self in accordance with the process parameters of nozzle diameter, nozzle height, printing speeds and temperature of printing. Climate change and rising sea levels present immediate threats to humanity. However, the global catastrophe fails to generate sufficient action. Subject to total submergence within 80 years, this study undertakes an iterative design process seeking sustainable adaptation strategies for the coastal island nation of the Maldives, specifically, Malé, its capital, which exists under a “state of alert” by order of government. Research methods include literature reviews, site analysis, mapping, and iterative design processes to develop an implementation framework strategy. Infrastructure concepts are presented as speculative images with context-specific spatial relationships and functions. This article investigates nexuses between innovations in mobile money and financial inclusion. Demand and supply factors that affect the diffusion of mobile services as well as macro-level institutional and economic factors are taken in account. The focus is on 148 countries with data mostly consisting of 2010–2014 averages. The empirical evidence is based on Tobit regressions. The study finds that when the empirical analysis is robust to multicollinearity, two main tendencies are apparent: the significant findings of Lashitew et al. (2019) [1] are confirmed and many new significant estimated coefficients emerge. While this study confirms the findings of the underlying research, it also goes further to improve the harmony in narratives between the predictors and the outcome variables. Accordingly, by accounting for multicollinearity, the earlier findings are now more consistent across the set of predictors (i.e. demand and supply factors) and the attendant financial inclusion outcomes (i.e. mobile money accounts, mobile used to send money and mobile used to receive money). 相似文献

Oxygen-fuel combustion is a promising technology for CO2 emission reduction. The high-temperature entrained flow reactor and high-temperature drop tube furnace were used to analyses the formation and O2/CO2 combustion characteristics of real-environment coal char in high-temperature oxy-fuel conditions. It proposed “inflection point standard” of high-temperature flame method for the preparation of real-environmental oxy-fuel coal char according to the flame method. The results show that the ratios of C=O/C-O and C=O/Car increase in the coal char compared with the raw coals. The trend of C=O/Car in oxy-fuel condition is opposite to that in the inert atmosphere, due to the effect of high-concentration CO2. To achieve the burnout rate similar to air combustion for coal char, with the increase of coal rank, the O2 concentration should be enhanced. The optimal O2 concentration for the oxy-fuel combustion of JC anthracite is 30%, while that of other low-rank coals could be lower than 30%. The combustion characteristic of JC anthracite is with the highest sensitivity to temperature and O2 concentration. 相似文献
